Key Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health is tasked with assessing and evaluating patient care needs associated with speech and language disorders, as well as providing functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive challenges.

  • Deliver services within the defined scope of practice according to state regulations, in alignment with the care plan, and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Assess the patient's functional level through diagnostic and prognostic evaluations, assisting the physician in formulating the therapy care plan.
  • Facilitate effective communication for patients by helping them articulate their thoughts in accordance with their condition, adhering to accepted standards of practice.
  • Educate the patient, their family, and/or caregivers, as well as other healthcare team members, on relevant aspects of speech therapy in which they can engage.

Required Qualifications

Licensing Requirements

  • Must hold a current license in Speech Therapy within the state.
  • Valid CPR certification is required.
  • A current driver's license and vehicle insurance are necessary, along with access to reliable transportation.
