Location: Family Medicine Parkesburg

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with weekend rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If not currently certified, completion of a Medical Assistant training program is necessary prior to hire, with certification required within six months of employment.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire.
  • For regional positions, a valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary or specialty care setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for their visits by utilizing appropriate rooming standards.
  • Administer injections as prescribed and provide observations to the provider or licensed nurse.
  • Prepare and administer medications in accordance with regulations.
  • Assist providers with various procedures and exams.
  • Conduct Point of Care Testing, including hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Remove sutures and change dressings as necessary.
  • Provide clinical advice via phone or electronic correspondence following established protocols.
  • Authorize prescription refills as directed by the provider.
  • Maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are adequately supplied and cleaned.
  • Engage in proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Coordinate care among specialists and assist with referrals and community resources.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and care quality.
  • Engage in daily huddles with the provider.
  • Act as a patient experience advocate, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Handle patient information confidentially according to privacy policies.
  • For regional roles, travel to various sites may be required.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Perform various front office tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
