MRI Technologist Job Description

Sigma is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to work onsite at our client's facility in Newton, MA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing patients, positioning, and setting imaging parameters, as well as performing computer processing and displaying images.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for MRI exams, including positioning and setting imaging parameters.
  • Perform computer processing and display images.
  • Perform scheduled quality control procedures on MRI scanners and other related equipment.
  • Record QA results as required.
  • Report any potential equipment-related problems to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Prepare for and perform intravenous injections of MR contrast agents, including the use of the MR-compatible power injector.
  • Understand and communicate the possible contraindications of MR contrast agents and monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
  • Record all information regarding contrast injections appropriately.
  • Insert IV catheters as needed.
  • Perform point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Instruct patients and visitors in MR safety procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices by all persons entering the MRI area.
  • Review outpatient schedules to confirm exams have been protocoled and reviewed for potential contra-indications.
  • Act as the final checkpoint for patient safety and protocol clarification.
  • Communicate with radiologists for protocol clarification when necessary.
  • Use designated department protocols.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • Graduate of a JRCERT-approved Radiologic Technology Program or MRI course.
  • Current BLS certificate.
  • ARRT(MR) required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, mathematical skills, and technical skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Working Conditions

The MRI Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to radiation and potentially hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to lift and transfer patients to stretchers, etc.

The MRI Technologist will be required to work a 13-week contract, with a possibility of extension.
