Construction Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at The H&K Group. As a Laborer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of our construction projects.

• Perform all work in accordance with OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Acquire and maintain tools necessary for daily operations.
• Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines to ensure accurate grading.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms to ensure structural integrity.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Level earth to fine grade specifications.
• Mix and smooth freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces to ensure safe working conditions.
• Paving Duties:
  • Assist with pre-run markings.
  • Use a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts.
  • Operate a vibratory plate as needed.
  • Shovel asphalt as required.
  • Direct traffic around work area as required.
• Pipe Duties:
  • Acquire tools necessary for daily operations.
  • Set up job site for daily function, including setting up a pipe laser.
  • Operate a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties.
  • Use cut saws to make pipe to proper length.
  • Prep pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered.
  • Shoot grades and check grades using laser or conventional methods.
  • Perform connection of pipe work.
  • Responsible for checking for proper pipe slope.
  • Prep structures for installation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• One month of related experience and/or training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mathematical skills, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).

• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
