Position Summary:

The role involves executing various tasks to guarantee the safe and efficient operation of packaging machinery, adhering to all safety and quality protocols, optimizing machine settings, minimizing downtime, reducing product rejects, and ensuring efficient output during product changeovers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot assigned packaging machines.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and safety compliance.
  • Perform machine-specific functions, including equipment configuration, loading, and operation, while maximizing machine efficiency.
  • Ensure machines operate at full capacity, conduct basic maintenance, and uphold product quality standards.
  • Prepare machines for production cycles, including calibration and cleaning, and adjust settings as necessary.
  • Continuously supply raw materials (such as film or cartons) to packaging machinery throughout the shift.
  • Regularly monitor machine operations to ensure accurate product measurements.
  • Report mechanical and operational issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Make minor adjustments to machines to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Achieve standard production rates, minimize waste, and meet company requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor raw material scrap levels to reduce waste continuously.
  • Assist in training and directing team members in specific areas, ensuring safety and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Accountable for the quality of products produced during the shift, in line with company quality systems and procedures.
  • Assemble and disassemble machines for use or changeovers.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel on production equipment to troubleshoot or discuss preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Read and comprehend daily production packaging schedules.
  • Understand product specifications and identify deviations from those standards.
  • Ensure proper printing of lot and case coding.
  • Perform assigned clean-up activities.
  • May undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

Food Safety Duties:

  • All employees must promptly report and assist in addressing any observed food safety issues to their supervisor.
  • Enforce and monitor current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices and prerequisite programs.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English and/or Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing, stooping, bending, and climbing frequently.

Supervisor: Shift Supervisor

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

Work Schedule:

  • Available for 1st or 2nd shift.
  • Occasional weekend availability may be required.

COVID-19 Policy: Employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request accommodation as per legal requirements.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
