Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant with 3-5 years of public accounting experience to work on-site in our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation and assurance, excellent client service skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Preparation, Review, and Planning:
    • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
    • Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns prepared by staff accountants.
    • Provide tax planning strategies to clients to minimize tax liabilities and advise on tax implications of business decisions.
  • Assurance Services:
    • Plan and perform audits, reviews, and compilation engagements.
    • Assess and evaluate internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Identify and communicate audit findings and recommendations for improvements.
    • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial data and documents.
    • Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Client Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns.
    • Communicate proactively, clearly, and effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
    • Understand engagement/project profitability and effectively communicate status/issues.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Mentor, train, evaluate, and provide feedback to staff accountants and interns.
    • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the completion of high-quality work.
    • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Operational and Technical Excellence:
    • Identify, research, and resolve technical issues in audit and tax engagements.
    • Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently and efficiently.
    • Act as a champion in either technology area and/or specialized technical knowledge area.
    • Identify and resolve issues that may impact engagement quality or efficiency.
    • Share best practices and time-saving techniques with team members.
    Qualifications
    • At least 3-5 years of current experience in public accounting required, focusing on tax preparation and planning.
    • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
    • Proficiency in Ultra Tax, QuickBooks (desktop and online), Excel, AdvanceFlow, and GoFileRoom.
