Job Summary

Cuyahoga County Board of DD is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team. As a key member of the Operations division, this individual will be responsible for performing various maintenance and custodial activities to ensure the satisfactory operation, care, appearance, safety, and security of assigned buildings, grounds, and their contents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks to maintain a safe, secure, and orderly appearance of Cuyahoga DD property and grounds.
  • Relocate and substitute as a Maintenance Technician to other Cuyahoga DD facilities as assigned, with varying work schedules and duties.
  • Perform general cleaning duties as set forth in daily cleaning schedules developed for building maintenance by site manager or Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, and various assembly and installation work as required, reporting any adverse conditions to supervisory personnel.
  • Ensure building grounds are properly maintained, including clearing sidewalks and entryways of obstructions, debris, ice, and snow.
  • Unload delivery trucks, check in goods received, and relocate them to appropriate areas.
  • Maintain all maintenance machines and cleaning equipment in good working condition.
  • Assist in building security and the closing and locking of all doors and windows, as scheduled.
  • Perform major maintenance and repair activities, such as painting, redecorating, and replacing ceiling tiles, during spring, summer, and winter break periods.
  • Assume responsibilities of another Maintenance Technician if asked to fill in for their absence.
  • Respond to building security and safety checks during non-working hours, as needed.
  • Perform emergency repairs to buildings, snow and ice removal, and building damage clean up as needed.
  • Complete various checklists, including the Monthly Contract Service Report, Monthly Fire System Inspection Report, Weekly Emergency Generator Set Inspection Checklist, Building Walkthru Checklist, Monthly Custodial/Landscape Checklist, Daily Playground Inspection Form, and Custodial/Maintenance Equipment and Tool Inventory.
  • Check phone and email daily, and be accessible to phone messages.
  • Change equipment filters twice a year or more often if needed.
  • Perform curb painting and sidewalk repairs, maintain cracks, and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Generate Work Orders and monitor equipment through Metasys.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Personal Contacts

Daily contact with individuals, families, and the general public, as well as external inspectors, contractors, and vendors.

Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial building maintenance, including housekeeping, grounds maintenance, and general repairs, safety standards, and building security.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and the various types and usage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform minor repairs.
  • Ability and desire to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability and desire to perform various housekeeping functions.
  • Ability and desire to meet physical demands of position.
  • Ability and desire to operate all types of maintenance equipment.
