Position Overview:
This is a full-time inpatient position with emergency department consults. The schedule consists of 15 shifts per month, each lasting 12 hours. Call responsibilities are primarily phone-based for the days worked. The unit will contact you for all newborn deliveries, allowing you to place orders within 15-30 minutes of birth. You will also be involved in neonatal resuscitation situations, preterm deliveries, fetal distress cases, and performing intubations on newborns.
The average daily census for Pediatric Hospitalists is 16, covering both pediatric patients and newborns, with no labor and delivery or NICU coverage required. Daily responsibilities include hospital rounds and being on call for neonatal resuscitation and high-risk deliveries requested by obstetrics, with an approximate daily average census of 4-6.
Your Daily Routine:
Arrive in the morning (between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM) to assess all infants. Responsibilities include patient consultations, discussions with parents regarding newborn care, performing circumcisions, and completing procedure notes, history and physicals, progress notes, or discharges. After fulfilling these tasks, you will round on inpatients before concluding your day.
We are looking to expand our team by adding two full-time Pediatric Hospitalists.
