Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), promoting independence and dignity
  • Escort residents to meals, recreational activities, and other events, fostering social connections and a sense of community
  • Support residents in achieving their highest level of physical, emotional, and psycho-social well-being, through personalized care and attention
  • Collaborate with the Wellness team to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents
  • Follow all policies and procedures, adhering to the instructions of the Nurse Shift Supervisor and the Director of Wellness

Requirements:

  • NY-Certified Nursing Assistant, Personal Care Attendant, or Home Health Aide certification
  • Experience assisting individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia is a plus
  • Ability to speak and read in English
  • Previous experience working with geriatric populations, providing assistance with ADLs
  • Basic understanding of dementia; patience and professionalism in redirecting residents
  • Ability to adjust to different personality types and situations in positive ways
  • Must always be reliable, caring, and gentle in touch and demeanor
  • Maintain an abiding respect for the elderly and remain calm at all times
