(7) Engage in daily patient care, which includes collaborating with nursing staff, coordinating consultations, and facilitating diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain effective communication with patients and their families, provide patient education, plan discharges, and coordinate with outpatient providers for follow-up care. Prepare discharge instructions, perform medication reconciliation, and ensure smooth transitions of care.

(9) Ensure proper sign-out procedures to the incoming physician for informed care transitions; collaborate with admitting physicians and consultants to organize diagnostic and treatment plans for patients awaiting admission.
(10) Maintain necessary clinical privileges to fulfill assigned duties within the Primary Care Service.

Monday to Friday

No employment contract for physicians, with no significant restrictions on outside employment.

Employment Conditions:
U.S. Citizenship is required; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable. All applicants selected for employment in designated testing positions must undergo urinalysis for illegal drug screening prior to appointment. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. A probationary period may be required, and candidates must pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Participation Requirements:
Compliance with seasonal influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination programs is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.

Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional qualifications specified in the job announcement. Candidates pending completion of training or licensure may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA physicians who meet previous qualification standards are considered to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship, medical degree from an accredited institution, current unrestricted medical license, completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program, and proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:
Board certification or eligibility in the relevant specialty.
