The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a crucial role in delivering speech and language therapy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts evaluations of patients' communication abilities, oral-motor function, cognitive skills, memory, problem-solving capabilities, and fluency of speech.
  • Evaluates the home setting (when applicable) to determine necessary equipment for speech and language support.
  • Identifies speech impairments and collaborates with physicians to create a tailored care plan addressing speech, language, hearing, and other related disorders.
  • Implements speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
  • Educates patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members about their roles in the speech therapy process.
  • Suggests appropriate communication devices and aids as needed.
  • Recommends audiological assessments when necessary.
  • Documents clinical progress and summarizes notes based on the achievement of therapy goals.
  • Instructs patients, families, and healthcare personnel on treatment protocols as required.
  • Performs additional tasks as needed to enhance the delivery of speech-language pathology services.
  • Recognizes the needs of patients and families for additional services and makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Adheres to established professional standards and maintains clinical expertise in speech-language pathology practices.
  • Completes other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Possesses the education and experience required for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology.
  • Holds a degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Maintains current licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist in the relevant state.
  • Preferred: At least one year of professional experience in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participates in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Completes TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
  • Maintains a current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Meets all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully completes new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Exhibits computer proficiency.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
