The Culinary Services Supervisor Trainee (CSST) will be responsible for assisting in the organization, planning, direction, control, and supervision of activities and personnel within the dietary department, which delivers food and nutrition services to residents in a long-term care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Culinary Services Director in leading high-quality dining initiatives that enhance the dining experience for residents.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Director to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Train staff on operational procedures and the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Oversee and assess the quality of work performed by department staff.
  • Develop work and staffing schedules to guarantee adequate service delivery and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Keep accurate records, including inventory, compliance, financial, and personnel documentation.
  • Manage a budget-conscious program.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, visitors, and all community departments.
  • Actively engage in facility meetings and committees.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Encourage the professional development of the entire departmental team.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure effective quality control measures are in place.
  • Report on monthly initiatives, goals, and achievements.
  • Promote and monitor resident satisfaction.
  • Ensure that the food service operation is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution.
  • Required supervisory experience in food service; a minimum of two years in long-term care is preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification for Managers from the National Restaurant Association.
  • Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) credentials from the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise team members effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Capability to work under pressure and achieve established objectives.
  • Public speaking proficiency.
  • Excellent stress management, administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
  • Proficient in Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
