Job Summary

As a Sous Chef with Compass Group, North America, you will play a critical role in the success of our culinary department. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates and work with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Produce and execute catering events that exceed client expectations.
  • Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with our marketing and culinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
  • Catering experience is a plus.
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences are helpful.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Must be experienced with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Must be willing to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities.
  • ServSafe certified is highly desirable.
