Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA or Arlington, VA. As a key member of our RF engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and demonstrating new RF technologies that could enable enhanced performance in compact form factors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage expertise in RF metamaterials to analyze performance and size, weight, and power trades for disruptive RF payloads
  • Utilize modeling tools to project performance vs power consumption trades for disruptive RF systems
  • Collaborate with RF engineers to evaluate and mature RF technologies, and develop a pipeline to transition them to production and integration into deployable systems
  • Contribute to developing a roadmap of novel RF technologies for future systems, and explore nascent concepts
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field with 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field with 10+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate in technical domain above with 8+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Must have a U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Proficient in applied computational electromagnetics and antenna systems, expertise in RF device design using finite element-based design tools, and strong understanding of material electrical and mechanical properties
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work directly with customers and deliver results
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or Doctorate in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field
  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Experience in designing and testing electrically-small antenna systems, building and validating RF device concepts in experimental prototypes, and programming experience in C/C++, Visual Basic
