Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Conway Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for assigning procedure and diagnosis codes for our medical records using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 software. Additionally, they will apply appropriate modifiers and enter charges into our databases. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in physician office billing and a certificate of medical coding completion from a recognized program. They will also possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with our nursing colleagues, physicians, and ancillary departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign procedure and diagnosis codes for medical records using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 software
  • Apply appropriate modifiers and enter charges into databases
  • Assist with billing processes and distribution of billing information
  • Coordinate alternate housing within the facility during inclement weather
  • Report back to work during emergency situations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required
  • Associates degree in a closely related field preferred
  • Previous experience in physician office billing required
  • Previous experience using an electronic health record preferred
  • Certificate of Medical Coding completion from a recognized program required
