Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist Level I to join our team in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Key Responsibilities- Operate CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, including basic and intermediate imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, and extremity scans.
- Obtain medical history from patients and verify exam accuracy by comparing requisitions to physicians' orders.
- Position patients and select proper scanning factors, adjusting as needed to attain accurate images, while ensuring radiation protection and safety.
- Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assist with scanning techniques, providing measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation.
- Post-process images as directed, accurately identifying and labeling images with patient name, medical record unit number, and location or position of scan.
- Prepare and maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies, entering patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes for procedures performed.
- Identify equipment performance issues, perform quality assurance tests, and calibration procedures, reporting malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 18 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
- No experience required.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
- Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
- Ability to work independently.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids, requiring personal protective equipment.
