Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurodiagnostic Technologist III to join our team on a night shift. As a key member of our Sleep Laboratory, you will be responsible for conducting advanced sleep testing procedures and associated interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct sleep studies and recognize normal and abnormal sleep patterns and tracings.
- Recognize sleep stages and eliminate artifacts.
- Provide education to patients on common sleep disorders and treatment options.
- Train and supervise Sleep Laboratory Technicians and Trainees.
- Set up patient and equipment, and obtain acceptable tracings per department policy and procedure.
- Recognize EKG rhythms and dysrhythmias, and act on life-threatening arrhythmias.
- Score records according to guidelines set by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
- Assist with clerical and recordkeeping within the lab.
- Perform CPAP/BIPAP/ASV titrations per department protocols, including the proper use of oxygen therapy.
- Communicate effectively with patients to elicit information and cooperation necessary to perform and complete studies.
- Perform patient and equipment calibrations, and maintain equipment in accordance with department policy.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine course of action.
- Document patient information and study results.
- Associate degree with five years of experience as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or 10 years of experience as an RPSGT.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye and hand coordination.
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- License by the Virginia Board of Medicine to practice Polysomnography.
