The State of North Carolina is seeking a highly skilled Physician Extender to join our team in the Department of Adult Correction. As a key member of our Comprehensive Health Services Section, you will provide medical care services to offenders in custody, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services under the supervision of a licensed physician
Perform physical exams, order lab work and x-rays, and admit patients to the hospital as needed
Maintain accurate medical records and coordinate with nursing services to ensure comprehensive care
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
Discuss medical information with patients and provide education on illness or injury
Requirements
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board
Demonstrated knowledge of general and preventative medicine and the techniques involved
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide high-quality care to a diverse population
