Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical experiences for nursing students, providing direct supervision and evaluation of their performance.
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of individual teaching loads, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Make self-available to staff at clinical agencies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on their level of performance, based on course objectives.
  • Be available for remediation of students as required or needed, providing additional support and guidance.
  • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations, with the assistance of agency/clinical personnel.
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments, consistent with students' knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
  • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College, ensuring alignment with College goals and objectives.
  • May teach didactic course content under the supervision of a course coordinator, providing expertise and guidance to students.
  • Keep course coordinators informed of all student and agency issues and concerns, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Work with College administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the College and student satisfaction rates.
  • Participate in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students, demonstrating excellence in customer service, collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
  • Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem-solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Comply with applicable regulatory rules and standards, ensuring adherence to College policies and procedures.
  • Reports to the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Course Coordinator, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Oregon.
  • An IL nursing license will be required before accepting any clinical contract for a given session.
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
  • Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
  • Exceptional subject matter expertise with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required to teach at certain clinical partner sites.
  • Eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care.
  • Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose, with the desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community.
