Join Our Faculty as a Professor of Jewelry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professor to join our faculty in the Jewelry department at the Savannah College of Art and Design. As a professor of jewelry, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the art and craft of jewelry making, with a focus on developing their technical skills and artistic vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach jewelry design and making courses to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with industry standards and best practices
  • Mentor students in their creative and technical development
  • Contribute to the development of the Jewelry department and the College's academic programs

Requirements:

  • Terminal degree or its equivalent in the discipline or a relevant field
  • Academic and professional credentials to teach
  • Knowledge of or experience in the multi-faceted jewelry industry, both art/studio and commercial
  • Excellent technical skills in jewelry-making and metalsmithing
  • Proficiency in Rhinoceros, MatrixGold, Zbrush, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchbook, and other prototyping tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level

Work Environment:

The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
