Mason County Schools seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Healthcare Specialist - Substitute School Nurse to join our team. As a Substitute School Nurse, you will provide essential healthcare services to students in a school setting.
About the Role:
- This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse (R.N.) with experience working in pediatrics, particularly in a community or school setting, to join our team.
- We are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can work effectively with students, staff, and parents to ensure optimal healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Job DescriptionIn this role, you will be responsible for providing assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management, and referrals concerning the health and medical care needs of students. This includes conducting school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing, as well as performing nursing assessments for students who are ill or injured.
You will also assist in the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive school health program, collaborate with healthcare providers, students' parents, school district staff, and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students, and develop individual health care plans when needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science area, with coursework in growth and development, health assessment, public or school health, crisis intervention, and health education.
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Must meet qualifications of a school nurse as defined in state regulations.
- Successful experiences working with a pediatric population, preferably in a community or school setting, are desirable.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered professional nurse (R.N.) designation as defined and determined by state law, and current licensure in the state.
- Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this position is between $65,000 and $85,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position that requires frequent travel between schools. The work environment is standard, with exposure to body secretions, blood-borne pathogens, medicine, and medicinal supplies, illnesses, and diseases.
