We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer II to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Advanced Echocardiography Specialist, you will be responsible for performing complex cardiac ultrasound procedures, interpreting results, and collaborating with physicians to provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Advanced Echocardiography Procedures: Perform and interpret advanced echocardiography procedures, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler, to obtain accurate and high-quality results.
- Collaboration with Physicians: Assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures and reduce risk factors.
- Patient Preparation and History: Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and adapt imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
- Transesophageal Studies: Assist in performing transesophageal studies with cardiologists, calculating measurements, and sterilizing probes.
- Communication and Record-Keeping: Communicate clinical findings to staff, record statistics, and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.
- Professional Development: Act as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
- Quality Assurance: Implement protocols as new technology evolves, ensure system echocardiography standards are implemented and adhered to, and work with medical directors to develop and ensure quality processes and protocols.
- Education: Advanced training beyond High School, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
- Registration and Certification: Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Experience: Typically requires 2 years of experience in cardiovascular sonography, including experience in digital quantification.
- Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge and ability to learn and apply complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, and techniques, and new computer techniques for the capture, display, and analysis of echocardiograph data.
- Physical Requirements: Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job, sits 50% of the time, stands and walks 20% of the time, and lifts up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Environmental Factors: Exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards, and required to wear protective clothing as needed.
