Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiation Oncology Nurse to join our team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our radiation therapy department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients undergoing radiation therapy, documenting vital data and communicating with physicians as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of daily logs, including refrigerator, crash cart, drug log, medication samples, nutritional supplements inventory, and dispensary.
  • Coordinate with physicians and office staff to ensure efficient patient flow through the facility, maintaining up-to-date patient records and referring physician information.
  • Participate in meetings and committees, representing the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Perform assessments for contrast patients, administer IV contrast using the pressure injector, and provide documentation.
  • Provide support and education to patients, acting as a resource for patient and family members, and scheduling tests and obtaining pre-authorization as needed.
Requirements
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.
  • 1-2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience required, with 1-2 years of clinical oncology experience preferred.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of various computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, in a Windows environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
