Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Transmission Engineer to join our Power Delivery Services team at Leidos.

This role involves working on comprehensive engineering design projects for electrical transmission and distribution systems, as well as substation and transmission line projects nationwide. As part of an established Project Management Office (PMO), you will collaborate with engineers and management to deliver high-quality consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities.

In this role, you will perform medium to advanced complexity engineering calculations to support engineering design. You will also read and design substation physical drawings, assist senior engineers with engineering studies, prepare project deliverables, and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing physical electrical, protection, and control system design on small to medium-sized utility substation engineering projects
  • Reading and designing substation physical drawings, such as operation one-line drawings, electrical plan and section drawings, foundation layouts, grounding layouts, and details
  • Assisting senior engineers with engineering studies and preparing project deliverables, including engineered drawings, technical reports, and project-related correspondence
  • Collaborating with other engineering disciplines and assessing the impacts of design changes on other disciplines to choose the best solution
  • Performing quality control reviews on smaller projects and preparing portions of smaller proposals under the direction of project engineers
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 2 years of prior relevant experience in utility substation design with a B.S. degree or 1 year of prior relevant experience in utility substation design with a M.S. degree
  • Familiarity with electric infrastructure and the theories and principles involved in substation engineering
  • Experience with engineering programs and software, including SKM, ASPEN, ETAP, CDEGS, or vendor software
