Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Lynchburg, VA. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and enforcing laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce traffic laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, such as domestic disputes, accidents, and other incidents.
  • Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Make arrests and issue citations as necessary.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives to build relationships with the public and promote public safety.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be 21 years of age by graduation from the police academy.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a polygraph test.
