Job Overview
The Pernix Group, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process from start to finish, ensuring that materials and services are procured at the best possible price while maintaining the highest level of quality and service.
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Procurement Specialist who can work independently with minimal supervision and has a strong understanding of procurement techniques and requirements. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 0-3 years of solid procuring materials experience and a strong background in procurement, preferably in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Request for Quotations/Invitations to Bid (RFQs/ITBs) bid packages based on commodity assignment and obtain solicitations/bids from sources of supply.
- Follow up on all RFQ packets and/or all bidders so as to ensure bids are received in a timely fashion and maintain constant communication with all stakeholders on buyout packages.
- Receive and review bid packages with the VP of Procurement to ensure bids are complete and communicate with all bidders to ensure a best and final offer is always requested and best terms are negotiated.
- Work closely with the Work Package Manager (WPM) and all stakeholders to ensure accurate materials are procured per bill of material (BOM)/specifications/requirements and make final vendor recommendations to the WPM after ensuring he/she has reviewed the buyout from a technical perspective.
- Procure materials that are agreed upon with the WPM and the Project Team, generate purchase orders in the Purchase Order system (ViewPoint), and log Purchase Orders into the Material Tracking Report.
- Send award/release Purchase Orders to vendors; follow up with awardees to ensure Order Acknowledgement is sent, and attend daily Procurement/Logistics meetings and other meetings as requested.
- Perform daily quality control (QC) checks on purchase orders and/or reports for other team members as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is a must, and the ideal candidate must be a team player who looks at challenges as opportunities for new knowledge and growth.
- The candidate must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance at the required level, and a minimum Associate's Degree in a related field is a must (Business Administration preferred).
- The candidate must have a minimum of one to three years of solid Procurement experience as a Buyer, preferably in the construction industry, and must have a good understanding of procurement techniques/requirements.
- The candidate must be able to learn and follow Procurement/Logistics policies and procedures, have strong negotiation skills, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), and strong analytical skills.
- The candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially in Excel).
- The candidate must have impeccable customer service skills, as we treat everyone as a customer, and be able to evaluate and use relevant information along with individual judgment to suggest ways to improve work processes (Process Improvement).
