About This Opportunity:

Anne Arundel Dermatology is looking for a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with patient care and preparing procedure trays.
  • Ensuring adequate supplies for the department and maintaining infection control.
  • Preparing Path/lab specimens and documenting medical instructions given to patients.
  • Administering injections and anesthesia for procedures.
  • Providing excellent verbal and written communication skills to patients and staff.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Able to triage patient problems and work effectively in a high-paced environment.
  • Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.
Education and Experience:

We require the following education and experience for this position:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelors degree program in the pre-med or pre-physicians assistant track preferred.
  • CPR certified preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
Physical Requirements:

The following physical requirements are necessary for this position:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing.
  • Use of hands and fingers.
  • Talking and listening in person and on the telephone.
  • Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
