Transportation Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Design Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Infrastructure Division, you will be responsible for performing and leading engineering design tasks for roadway and highway projects from conceptual design to final design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop civil design of multi-modal transportation projects per AASHTO and applicable design standards.
  • Prepare final bid packages, design-build packages, and bridging documents.
  • Mentor and develop new engineers in transportation and highway design.
  • Lead and coordinate design activities between staff, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Perform technical analyses and reviews of infrastructure projects.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of projects including interagency coordination, technical review, and other related activities.
  • Support and perform project management functions to ensure projects meet the defined schedules, cost estimates, and performance/technical measures and specifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required in VA, DC or MD.
  • Experience with DDOT, VDOT, and/or MDSHA standards and projects.
  • Strong technical design background in roadway design and transportation engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
