California Workers Compensation Hearing Attorney

About the Role:
">We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workers Compensation Hearing Representative to join our team on a 6-month contract initially. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of California Workers Compensation law and litigation procedures, with a minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience, Workers Compensation case handling required.
">Key Responsibilities:
">- Handling a designated caseload of Workers Compensation cases, attending virtual and in-person appearances before the California Workers Compensation Boards in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Oxnard.
- Analyzing legal and factual issues, conducting extensive and developing well-reasoned legal research.
- Preparing pleadings, depositions, panel requests, and briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy.
- Independently creating and presenting defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Partnering with Claims Partners to achieve the best results for our insured.
- Providing effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients on legal and factual issues within the scope of representation.
- Communicating with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion.
- Facilitating prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Handling a varied case inventory with full defense and lien files.
- Negotiating and resolving cases/liens on behalf of the company.
- Independently preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
- Interpreting and analyzing medical reports or bills/invoices and providing disability ratings and/or other Official Medical Fee Schedules where jurisdictionally applicable.
- Providing recommendations and case analysis to business partners and clients on appropriate file handling strategy.
- Integrating legal support staff into case handling process when appropriate.
- Adheres to all standards of excellence in file management.
- Meets annual billable hour expectations.
- Attends continuing legal education seminars to maintain a high level of professional expertise.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
