Airworthiness Inspector Lead Job Summary

The Airworthiness Inspector Lead is responsible for ensuring the quality and airworthiness of aircraft and components at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to oversee the inspection process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, schedule, and supervise assigned inspectors on aircraft in the repair station.
  2. Ensure assigned personnel have necessary resources to complete assigned tasks and assist with project initiation, coordination, and completion.
  3. Monitor the performance of airworthiness inspectors, provide training and guidance, and contribute to individual performance reviews.
  4. Maintain current status of aircraft/components in assigned areas and communicate effectively with return to service staff.
  5. Ensure quality representatives within the repair station perform their duties as outlined in QCM.
  6. Coordinate inspection requirements between departments and ensure accurate, neat, and legible records of work performed on aircraft/components are maintained.
  7. Identify FAR 135 operators, FAR 135 maintenance programs, and ensure adequate trained inspectors are available.
  8. Conduct audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion prior to approval for return to service.
  9. Monitor department-calibrated tools and test equipment for current calibration and submit changes for any technical data found discrepant.
  10. Identify foreign authority-operated aircraft/components and ensure their requirements are met.

Requirements:

  1. Advanced knowledge of inspection and certification processes, general working knowledge of various aircraft, engines, and components, and familiarity with pertinent FARs and technical reference materials.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of FAR Part 145 and associated guidance materials, Part 43, Part 91, Part 121, and Part 135 as these parts apply to work accomplished under the repair station certification.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of interpretations, applications, and procedures for completing FAA paperwork, including FARs, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Form 337, Form 8130-3, Form 8110, STCs, and other pertinent paperwork.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively prioritize tasks, and strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and minimum 20 WPM typing speed.
  5. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
