Position Overview:

The Principal Metallurgical Engineer at Hirewell is tasked with identifying and establishing the critical fabrication criteria for selected materials. This includes determining the requirements for forging, welding, heat treatment, corrosion testing, and nondestructive testing.


Key Responsibilities:

As a Principal Metallurgical Engineer, your duties will encompass:

  • Evaluating and selecting materials for various projects.
  • Assessing customer specifications and drawings to ensure accurate material implementation.
  • Reviewing inspection protocols for equipment with specialized material needs.
  • Coordinating projects to address challenges related to material processing, coatings, and heat treatment.
  • Overseeing titanium processing activities, including melting, forging, and machining.
  • Collaborating with vendors alongside procurement and project management teams.
  • Coordinating and evaluating material testing procedures.
  • Assisting with any deviations in material and concession requests.
  • Analyzing data to formulate optimal solutions or recommend actions.
  • Providing analysis and recommendations for customer or supplier-related issues.
  • Working with Supply Chain to identify and qualify vendors related to materials.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Availability Requirements:

The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, or as otherwise agreed upon. Occasional availability may be required based on project and customer needs.
