We are in search of a proficient Metal Finishing Technician to contribute to our operations at Advantage Manufacturing. In this role, you will be tasked with the cleaning, preparation, and racking of components, as well as the loading and unloading of racks in anticipation of powder coating various metal items. This position may also involve assisting with the mixing and application of powders according to manufacturer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cleaning, preparation, and racking of components for powder coating.
- Utilize a steam cleaning system for washing parts effectively.
- Transfer coated racks into curing ovens, ensuring adherence to temperature and cycle time specifications.
- Determine appropriate powder colors and manage inventory levels efficiently.
- Follow strict production schedules.
- Support colleagues in adjacent functional areas as needed.
- Communicate daily schedule requirements with the supervisor.
- Interpret blueprints and comprehend requirements for masking and plugging.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain application equipment in optimal working condition.
Qualifications
- Ability to pass annual pulmonary testing.
- High school diploma is mandatory.
- Relevant college coursework in painting disciplines is advantageous but not essential.
- Prior experience in powder coating is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This position is situated in the production coating area, where exposure to moisture, dust, and heat is commonplace. The role primarily involves working in a wash booth while standing and extending arms for prolonged periods. Candidates should be comfortable wearing respirators, hoods, or full suits in hot and humid conditions.
Schedule
Our facility operates on three shifts, with a current focus on staffing for the second shift.
Compensation
The compensation for this role is commensurate with skills and experience, ranging from $17 to $19 per hour.
