Job Summary:

The Observation Unit Registered Nurse provides high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes and a passion for working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve the best possible results for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit, implementing procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs.
Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures, modifying the plan as necessary based on continuous evaluation.
Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues, offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and conferring with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
Assesses IV sites every 4 hours and starts new IVs per Carle policy.
Maintains documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits.
Attends 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year.
Identifies change in patient status and responds appropriately.

Requirements:

Associates Nursing or Bachelors Nursing degree.
Registered Nurse (RN) Illinois licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.
