Key Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) in Surgery, you will be responsible for planning, administering, and supervising nursing activities for operative patients. Your role is crucial in maintaining a safe and sterile environment during surgical procedures. You will adhere to the Adventist Health System Corporate Compliance Plan and comply with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and standards set by accrediting bodies.


In collaboration with the surgeon, the RNFA ensures safe surgical practices to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of peri-operative nursing, along with the necessary skills and judgment to perform effectively under the surgeon's supervision during the intra-operative phase.


Essential Duties:
  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care utilizing your expertise.
  • Familiarize yourself with available supplies and equipment, ensuring their economical use within the operating room.
  • Prepare and maintain both sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
  • Engage in perioperative nursing practices.
  • Completion of an RNFA program is required (with exceptions).
  • A minimum of one to two years of general nursing experience in an acute care environment is necessary.
  • Preferred: Five years of nursing experience in the relevant specialty.
