Job Description

Spherion Staffing is seeking an experienced driver to join our team in Gary, IN. As a member of our Driver Team, you will play a crucial role in assisting our members with accessibility to the care they need, while adhering to established client policies and procedures.

We are committed to providing excellent customer service, with a sense of urgency, to our members and our drivers. Your contributions will help us maintain this commitment and contribute to the care of our members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport members to and from predetermined destinations as required.
  • Proactively review assigned trips on a tablet or other backup mechanism to plan daily schedules and ensure members can be transported to and from destinations on time according to appointment schedules.
  • Accurately complete and return daily driver logs and any other requested forms or miscellaneous paperwork in a timely manner as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with direct supervisors, dispatch staff, mechanics, and other management/staff to update and/or escalate issues as necessary.
  • Ensure daily vehicle checklists are completed and communicate any mechanical issues to supervisors and mechanics.
  • Schedule vehicle preventative and regular maintenance with mechanics according to company mileage requirements.
  • Interact with internal staff and external contacts in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism with members, adhering to company standards.

Requirements:

  • Current driver's license (Indiana licensing)
  • Experience in the driver/transportation industry
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively take direction
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen at all times
  • Driving record with no DUIs, OWIs, no points, no suspensions, or any other negative results not listed
  • Ability to utilize transportation technology solutions
  • Working knowledge of cell phones, computer hardware, and software
