Maintenance Staff Member Job Description

As a Maintenance Staff Member at FirstService Residential, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair all mechanical systems, equipment, and common areas to ensure they are operational and in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Routinely inspect and report on the condition of floors, including roofs, and identify any problems or issues.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed while performing work, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with building staff and other stakeholders.
  • Perform painting and touch-up work as required, including inspecting areas that need paint and advising management.
  • Complete daily work orders as scheduled, and maintain assigned equipment in good working condition.
  • Perform minor maintenance, repairs, and replacements in areas such as carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, painting, flooring, and other building repairs.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • (2) years of general experience in building trades, repair, and replacement maintenance or handy work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Multiple language fluency is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time, and have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
  • Be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level.
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions, such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity.
  • Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment up to 50 lbs occasionally to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word.
  • Maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
