About the Role:
MedEx Medical Transport is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced EMT to join our team. As an EMT Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing top-tier medical transport services to patients in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport patients safely and efficiently to and from medical appointments.
- Stay up-to-date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses, and all certifications, licenses, and registrations.
- Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Recognize and treat any medical condition with appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of all State and County protocols.
- Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center.
- Communicate regularly with the dispatch team regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information.
- Be flexible as services operate on a 24-hour clock, and your work shift schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
- Thoroughly document medical care given to patients in the EHR system.
- Obtain necessary signatures and paperwork for each transport.
- Provide top-tier medical transport to medical facilities by assuming responsibilities for medical care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely lift the stretcher (must be able to lift and carry 125 pounds).
- Upon request, provide assistance to the receiving medical facility staff.
- Operate MedEx vehicles while complying with North Carolina State Law and company policies.
- Ensure that the ambulance is clean, washed, and kept in a neat and orderly condition.
- Determine that the vehicle is in proper mechanical condition by performing daily check-off sheets and reporting known issues.
- Inventory, replace, and clean supplies and equipment after each use.
- Ensure equipment is in a state of readiness and report repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
- Make careful checks of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run.
- Assist in completing any office duties, which may include cleaning the office and living space.
- Attend continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical control, licensing, or certifying agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current NC AEMT certification or able to obtain one.
- Possess a valid State Driver's License.
- Driving record in compliance with MedEx Safety and Driving policy.
- Must be physically able to meet the demands of the position.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
