Job Description

The Polysomnographic Technologist plays a vital role in the Rutland Regional Medical Center's sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment team. Under general supervision, this professional is responsible for setting up and operating Polysomnographic equipment to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders.

This position requires a thorough understanding of all monitored parameters used in computer scoring and preparation of Polysomnographic reports. The ability to institute and maintain life-saving measures is also essential.

Minimum Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while an Associate's Degree in the Health Sciences is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist is necessary, with experience at an AASM-accredited Sleep Center being highly desirable.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT) is required, with a registry exam to be taken within three years before the certification expires.
  • Completion of the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)/AASM A-Step Program's 14 Modules is also necessary to take the Registry for Polysomnography.
  • Maintenance of continuing education units as required by PSGT Certification is crucial.
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of Polysomnography equipment is essential.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols is also required.
  • Demonstrated safe and knowledgeable practice skills are paramount, based on theory and consistent with policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Moderate knowledge of basic computer skills is expected.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $31.45 per hour, based on industry standards and comparable roles in the region.
