Position Summary:

The Radiation Oncology Physician Assistant provides clinical expertise in evaluating diagnoses, monitoring, and managing oncology and hematology patients. This integrated role includes clinical, educational, and research components, with responsibilities such as chemotherapy teaching, bone marrow biopsies, and cancer surveillance.

Job Specifics:
  • Work with hematology/oncology physicians in a level one trauma center in Rockford, Illinois, treating patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Full-time schedule with no weekend call.
  • Services include IV chemotherapy, oral chemotherapy adherence programs, clinical trials, radiation therapy, cancer high risk genetics, and survivorship.
The Cancer Center:
  • Quality patient care support services are provided in a state-of-the-art cancer center, including social, nutritional, financial, pastoral, palliative care, navigation, counseling, and support groups.
  • The center is Commission on Cancer and Quality Oncology Practice Initiative accredited.
  • Providers are oncology specialty board certified.

Qualifications:

  • Required qualifications include licensure to provide Advanced Practice Nurse Services or Physician Assistant Services, and licensure by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing narcotics.
