Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Development
    • Develop and implement training programs to promote good phlebotomy skills and techniques.
    • Conduct regular training sessions and provide feedback to employees.
  • Inventory and Supply Management
    • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available.
    • Place orders for supplies as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance checks on laboratory equipment.
    • Notify the team leader of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Clinical Operations
    • Process patient specimens accurately and efficiently.
    • Ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, hospital staff, and clients.
    • Participate as a team member to facilitate efficient and effective laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience required.
    • Experience with patient venipuncture of all ages preferred.
  • License/Certifications
    • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathology required.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
    • Knowledge of phlebotomy practices and venipuncture specimen and safety procedures.
    • Knowledge of laboratory processes, inventory, and equipment.
    • Ability to coordinate laboratory training functions for clinical personnel.
    • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
