Registered Nurses utilize a systematic approach to care that encompasses assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure effective patient care delivery.
This role involves providing guidance to support staff by acting as a team leader, serving as a mentor, and engaging actively within the healthcare team.
The nurse operates within the ANA Scope of Practice, adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and complies with the standards pertinent to their specialty.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care
- Evaluates the needs and conditions of assigned patients by collecting pertinent health information.
- Establishes outcomes, formulates a personalized care plan tailored to the patient and/or situation, and executes the identified plan to achieve expected outcomes.
- Monitors patient progress towards outcomes and makes necessary adjustments to diagnoses, outcomes, and care plans as required.
- Enhances patient experience by delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care while respecting patient privacy and treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.
- Regularly assesses patient conditions and modifies the care plan as needed.
- Implements aseptic techniques by maintaining a sterile environment while applying principles of disinfection, sterilization, and infection control.
- Upholds infection prevention standards.
- Collaborates effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assists with procedures and patient transport throughout the facility in accordance with hospital and departmental protocols.
- Engages in fostering a learning environment that is supported by evidence-based practices and research.
- Focuses on areas for personal development, participating in professional interactions with colleagues and students.
- Collaborates with peers and other healthcare providers, participating in ongoing training and educational seminars.
- Contributes to the mentoring and education of colleagues and students.
- Complies with regulatory and organizational standards impacting patient care and safety, as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Practices in a manner that is safe, high-quality, and cost-effective.
- Remains informed and adheres to state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies relevant to the employee's responsibilities.
- Ensures all necessary certifications and/or licenses are current and valid prior to expiration.
- Completes all mandatory training modules and job-specific training within the designated timeframe.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, electronic medical record entries, and patient responses.
- Responsible for promptly reporting any safety-related incidents through the appropriate channels; participates in all safety training programs; performs work safely; monitors the work environment for potential safety issues and ensures compliance among colleagues.
Qualifications:
Education
Registered Nurses hired after a specified date must graduate from a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within a designated timeframe of employment.
Existing Staff RNs:
Registered Nurses employed prior to the specified date are not required to possess a BSN but are encouraged to pursue this degree.
Certification & LicensuresActive, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license - Required
BLS - Required
NRP - Required within a specified timeframe of hire
