Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Registered Nurse in our Medical ICU Step Down Unit, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Standards of Practice
    • The Registered Nurse will utilize the nursing process components of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide high-quality patient care.
    • The RN will collect pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or situation, analyze the assessment data to determine the actual and potential diagnoses or issues, and identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or situation.
    • The RN will develop and modify a plan of care that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes, implement the identified plan, and coordinate care delivery and transitions in care.
    • The RN will employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment, and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Standards of Professional Performance
    • The Registered Nurse will engage in professional role activities, including leadership, collaboration, communication, and education, to provide high-quality patient care.
    • The RN will practice ethically, culturally congruent practice, and effective communication to ensure quality outcomes.
    • The RN will lead within the professional practice setting and the profession, and contribute to quality nursing practice.
Qualifications

We are seeking a Registered Nurse with a strong foundation in nursing practice and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current BCLS certification or the ability to obtain within one month of hire.
  • Experience in a critical care setting, preferably in a Medical ICU Step Down Unit.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
Working Conditions

The Registered Nurse will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of patient acuity. The RN will be required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, and use sight, hearing, and touch to provide patient care. The RN may be exposed to infectious diseases and will be required to assist with lifting and transferring patients.
