Job Title: Senior Counselor

Center Point - DAAC is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive treatment services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and mental health issues.

Job Summary:

The Senior Counselor will be responsible for coordinating program activities, supervising counseling staff, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes scheduling and monitoring work activities, supervising training, evaluating and directing program staff, and coordinating outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct treatment of clients, documentation, and reporting
  • Acts as first-line supervisor to counseling staff
  • Manages daily provision of therapeutic services and activities
  • Assists Program Director in providing direction, supervision, training, and evaluation
  • Monitors outreach, intake, screening, client levels of care designations, assessments, treatment, and aftercare planning services
  • Responsible for scheduling, coordination, and monitoring project activities
  • Provides training, direction, and supervision to counseling staff
  • Monitors participants' progress and convenes case conferences as needed
  • Participates in Agency Utilization Review activities
  • Conducts supervision and debriefing with counseling staff
  • Develops and monitors client orientation activities
  • Manages activities and clinical needs
  • Ensures proper practices are observed to protect health and safety of program clients and staff
  • Reviews individual client records to ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Ensures that client intakes are conducted appropriately
  • Assists in data collection activities and compliance with agency protocols
  • Ensures that staff observe Agency personnel policies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related field and a minimum of one (1) year experience providing substance use disorder treatment and recovery services
  • AA degree and three (3) years full-time experience providing substance use disorder treatment and recovery services
  • At the time of hire, must be certified as an AOD Counselor with a certification recognized by CA DHCS
  • Have working knowledge of gender-responsive substance abuse programs and treatment techniques, and trauma treatment services
