About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker to join our team at the U.S. Marine Corps Community Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as industrial-type powered scrubbers and buffers
  • Adjust, clean, and oil equipment, and change brushes, rollers, and other attachments
  • Wash and replace Venetian blinds, change light bulbs, and wash ceiling fixtures and room partitions
  • Move heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment
  • Keep restrooms clean, orderly, and sanitary
  • Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls
  • Dust ledges and woodwork
  • Replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap
  • Maintain a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notify supervisor when more are needed
  • Provide World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy
  • Assist customers and communicate positively in a friendly manner
  • Acknowledge customers, smile, and make eye contact
  • Ask questions to determine, verify, and solve problems
  • Check for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services
  • Take action to solve problems quickly
  • Alert the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise
  • Adhere to safety regulations and standards
  • Use required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures
  • Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor
  • Adhere to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment
Requirements
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects
  • Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment
  • Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets
Working Conditions

Work is typically performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors. Exposed to minor injuries.
