Culinary Associate

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality at Illinois State University is seeking a highly skilled Culinary Associate to join our team. As a key member of our dining operations staff, you will play a vital role in preparing fresh and delicious menu items for our campus community and guests.

Job Summary: This position requires a strong background in culinary arts, with experience in quantity cooking and food preparation. You will work closely with our experienced culinary professionals to provide high-quality food services in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items, including entrees, sides, and desserts.
• Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure seamless food service operations.
• Participate in display cooking and other culinary activities to enhance the customer experience.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of work experience in quantity cooking and food preparation.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles.

Working Hours: Working hours and days off will be subject to bid.

Functional Expectations: This position requires standing, walking, use of fingers and hands, reaching, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, speaking, seeing, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Ability to stand for an extended period without a significant rest period.
