Job Summary

We are seeking a senior avionics electrical engineer to join our team at Hermeus. As a member of our electrical team, you will be responsible for designing and testing custom electrical systems for ground test and flight applications. Your expertise will ensure the seamless integration and compatibility of your designs at the sub-system and integrated system level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and test custom electrical systems for ground test and flight applications
  • Ensure seamless integration and compatibility of designs at the sub-system and integrated system level
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create control and instrumentation systems for engine, structural, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Develop and maintain complex electrical systems, including power distribution, control software, and RF communications
  • Work with electrical and mechanical design tools, such as Altium Designer and Siemens NX

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in multiple areas, including electrical hardware design, control systems, instrumentation and signal conditioning, digital communication busses, analog design and simulation, power electronics, and harness design
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • A bias towards action, and a willingness to work hands-on to make it happen

Desired Multipliers

  • MS Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated project experience with embedded design, device integration, V&V, environmental qualification and/or flight testing
  • Familiarity with test and simulation tools, such as DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies, SPICE, and Ansys
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical design and version control software, such as Altium Designer, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Git
  • Experience with avionics devices and protocols, such as RS-485, ARINC-685, FPGAs, GPS, INS, and D38999 style connectors
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards, including IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-464D, and DO-160G
  • Experience working with DC power systems, including batteries, motors, and generators
  • Engineering project team experience
