As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensuring work orders are completed accurately.
- Assisting with mobile emergency services.
As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will enjoy a competitive compensation package, including:
- $26.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
- $3,000 Sign on Bonus (conditions apply).
- An additional $0.25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain.
- Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.

To be successful as a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will need:
- A valid driver's license.
- At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- A mechanic's tool set.
- A willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses will be provided.
- Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
