Role Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, identify, and compile observational and spatial data regarding various species, including vegetation, wetlands, wildlife, marine, terrestrial, botanical, and avian, as well as biological and environmental data from air, soil, water, sludge, and other samples for various projects and surveys.
- Utilize topographic maps, aerial imagery, GPS devices, and other tools to accurately locate project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms.
- Assist in the preparation of biological survey reports, data entry, impact assessments, and support permitting activities for assigned projects.
- Ensure quality control standards and procedures are maintained for precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct professional biology work and assist in investigations, inspections, and environmental studies to gather further information on specific environmental issues, verify site characteristics, and plan for future environmental needs.
- Prepare data visualizations such as tables, charts, and reports for data interpretation and presentation.
- Draft technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, ensuring complete, accurate, and concise documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Over 7 years of experience as a biologist, conducting biological surveys, fieldwork, habitat assessments, and construction monitoring.
- Familiarity with the federal Endangered Species Act and related permitting processes.
- Experience with NEPA, CEQA, and the Clean Water Act.
- Proficiency in electronic data collection and spatial data interpretation, with a keen attention to detail in data quality assurance.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with research techniques and local/regional ecology.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse audiences.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to derive conclusions from data and testing results.
- Willingness to travel occasionally based on project requirements.
- Excellent technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Knowledge of Spanish is advantageous.
