Job Summary:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or related conditions. As an advocate for these individuals, the DSP must possess a strong sense of empathy and the ability to connect and relate to people of all abilities. The DSP will be responsible for providing caring, supportive, and empowering services to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily life activities, including personal care, hygiene, and mobility.
- Support individuals in maintaining their independence and autonomy.
- Provide advocacy services, including evaluating the effectiveness of programs and offering feedback to improve the quality of life for our clients.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless care and support for our clients.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to be an active listener with sensitivity to developmental disability issues.
- Demonstrate respect for all individuals across the organization.
- Complete integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
