Position Overview
As an Early Childhood Education Assistant at Newtown Athletic Club, you will collaborate with a lead educator and the entire team to foster a safe, healthy, and supportive learning atmosphere for young children.
Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Educator in developing and executing lesson plans, implementing educational programs, and evaluating the developmental progress of children.
- Engage in diverse learning activities that encourage children to reach their full potential and meet their educational objectives.
- Deliver lessons in a nurturing environment that promotes curiosity and aligns with children's developmental milestones.
- Assist the lead educator in conducting activities and programs that enhance self-esteem and social skills among children.
- Help children during meal times and ensure cleanliness in the learning space.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
- Communicate positively and professionally with children, parents, and colleagues on a daily basis.
- Work collaboratively with fellow educators and staff to support the overall well-being of the institution and the interests of its community.
- Interact positively with students to address their individual needs and support their play, exploration, and learning.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent gatherings, and other meetings as required.

- Strong organizational and time management skills to thrive in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.

- Effective verbal communication skills are mandatory.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk frequently throughout the day. The role may require standing for four (4) to eight (8) hours daily and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally. Visual acuity to read fine print is necessary, along with the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal voice sounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this role.

Education and Experience
Assistant educators must meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma and at least 18 years of age.
- Compliance with all state education and licensing standards, maintaining validation of credentials for the position.
- Possess at least one of the following: two years of experience in Early Childhood Education, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or a degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Prior experience in a licensed preschool or early development center is preferred.
